CPST

CoE - Center for Plasma Science and Technology (CPST)

Hintergrund

Plasma physics and plasma technology have become prominent research fields at RUB during the last years. Plasma research is now represented by a total of 11 full professorships in the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy and in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. This constitutes the largest plasma oriented group of scientists at a German university. The unique concentration of expertise in applications oriented plasma physics at RUB has been clustered in the multi-faculty Centre of Excellence “Plasma Science and Technology“ (CPST). CPST has established the major track “Plasma Technology” in the curriculum of electrical engineering, responding to an urgent demand from industry. Main research topics are “Plasma Technologies for Biomedical Applications“, “Plasma Process Development and Control“ and “Plasma Based Particle and Photon Sources“. Key expertise of the CPST is in the fields of plasma generation, diagnostics, modelling and plasmasurface-interaction. The members of CPST have installed a plasma applications laboratory, a modelling and simulation platform and a central facility for surface and material analysis.
